- Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with a leading business on the outskirts of Uckfield who are currently in search of an Electrical Design Engineer.
About The Role
You will join the New Product Development Team delivering new designs to market in line with the product management roadmap. The multi-disciplined team engage with product management and operations on projects of varying complexity. You will develop the next generation of products.

Over job purpose:
Working as part of the NPD team delivering new designs to market in line with the product management roadmap
Interface with the mechanical design test and software teams developing new products and platform elements in a formal project environment
Evaluate and minimise risk utilising FMEA’s or other methodologies as appropriate
Work with Manufacturing Engineer to develop BOMs and routings within MRP, along with full build and test procedures
Follow company development procedures ensuring full documentation is completed for all projects
Contribute to the establishment of internal design and draughting standards
Conceptualise and implement new design solutions in line with the company philosophy and road map
Deliver cost and DFMA optimised solutions in line with the manufacturing strategy
Verify designs through test and analysis
Utilise latest design methods and materials to rapidly develop and release new products
Interface with the mechanical design test and software teams developing new products and platform elements in a formal project environment
Key responsibilities
Design new products using SolidWorks & a variety of test equipment
Utilise latest design methods and materials to rapidly develop and release new products
Deliver new product design on time, in line with metrics and aligned to MFG requirements
To work within the Company’s ISO Standards and procedures
To work within budgetary constraints, in a cost effective, diligent, organised, and professional manner
Person specification
You’ll embrace agility, collaboration, and simplicity in developing product solutions as part of the team. You’ll need the following essential skills:
Understanding of brushed and brushless Motor Control
Knowledge of EU and UL related standards and implementation in electrical systems.
DFM, DFMEA, Verification and validation testing and fault-finding techniques
Desirable experience / knowledge:
Knowledge of SolidWorks Electrical or other similar electrical design systems
Some understanding of Arduino, Raspberry Pi implementation in systems
Experience of working in project teams in a product design environment.
PCB development and programming.
