Location: East Grinstead
Salary: £36K DOE
Are you an organised, hands-on leader with experience in yard or warehouse operations? Our client, an established organisation within the construction trade, is looking for a proactive Yard Supervisor to join their team.
About the Yard Supervisor role:
As Yard Supervisor, you’ll oversee day-to-day yard operations, ensuring goods are handled correctly, equipment is used safely, and team members are working effectively. You’ll play a key part in maintaining high operational standards, meeting deadlines, and supporting the wider site.
Yard Supervisor Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily yard operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and organisation
- Lead, support, and motivate yard staff to meet performance targets
- Manage the movement, loading, and unloading of materials and goods
- Ensure all inbound and outbound items are checked, recorded, and stored correctly
- Allocate workloads and plan staffing to meet operational demands
- Conduct regular safety checks, including equipment inspections
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and compliant yard environment
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, and managers to support smooth workflow
- Monitor stock levels and report any discrepancies
- Train new staff on yard procedures and safe working practices
About You:
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or logistics environment (ideally at a supervisory or managerial level)
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Confident communicator who works well under pressure
- Health & safety focused, with a proactive mindset
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to manage workloads and prioritise effectively
- Comfortable working in outdoor and fast-paced settings
- Must be a driver due to location
