- Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with a leading business on the outskirts of Uckfield who are currently in search of a Factory Supervisor to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The Factory Supervisor is central to the production of the company’s products.
Position Summary
The Factory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the food production processes. This involves supervising production staff, delegation of work, efficient running of factory processes, prompt and accurate completion of paperwork and assessing of the finished product.

Desirable Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience in food production including knowledge of cleaning and testing protocols
Oversee safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance
Perform verification of production output according to specifications
Prepare reports on performance and progress and present them to management
Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results as agreed in the daily ops meeting the previous day, where changes are necessary these must be agreed by management in advance; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries
Managing workflow
Training new hires and documenting their training schedule
Reporting to HR and senior management
Evaluating performance and providing feedback
Delegate tasks to team
Review the staff roster (for the next day / week) and communicate people requirements to operations management team
Identifying and applying career advancement opportunities
Helping to resolve employee issues and disputes

Food safety/HACCP Level 2, COSHH Awareness
Supervisory/Leadership
Counterbalance forklift licence
Health & Safety Level 3
Key Responsibilities & Tasks within Production Scheduling, Factory Supervision:
Liaising with planning and management on weekly production schedules
Communicate regularly and clearly with Procurement regarding required ingredients and supplies
Ensure production staff are equipped with production schedules and recipe cards
Ensure all processes are followed at all stages of the process and that all relevant paperwork is completed and processed correctly
Receive raw materials into the factory and ensure correct storage
Ensure ingredients are correctly weighed for each recipe
Oversee production process from mincing to packing
Ensure all finished product is correctly packaged and labelled ready for freezing and storage
Oversee daily cleaning of factory and ensure waste is disposed of correctly and safely
Daily upkeep of the factory – monitor area temperatures and ensure issues, machine breakdowns, supply and staff needs are swiftly reported to management
Check the required tubs, lids and sleeves/labels are in the factory for the day’s production and if not then report to the warehouse supervisor
Ensure PPE washed and put away daily
Completion of prestart, weights and measures checks, record cleaning records and pass to operations management team
Production Team Supervision and Stock & Quality Control:
Effectively supervise the production team to ensure production runs smoothly
Ensure production staff wear PPE clothing and maintain they follow hygiene and PPE procedures
Be responsible for the immediate safety and security of production staff, ensuring staff comply with the business on matters of Health & Safety
Ensure clear communication within team and between wider team and warehouse packing teams when liaising
Ensure bins are weighed out and mixed ready for the next day’s production
Report any issues within the production team
Assist in the training and induction of new production staff members & ensure records are kept
Report all issues, breakages, and discrepancies swiftly
Identify, assess, and report any areas where training needs to be developed
Ensure agency staff timesheets are signed at the end of each day / week and a copy given to operations management team
Ensure the factory and chiller are sanitary, organised, and tidy
Ensure quality control and food safety in respect of raw ingredient and finished product
Ensuring safeguards and hygiene controls to ensure product safety are in place and effective
CCP monitoring, reporting
Ensuring all frozen product is correctly stored and rotated using FIFO
Monitor chiller temperatures and report any issues
Record and report damaged raw ingredient, packaging and / or finished product
Conduct and record accurate stock takes
Input daily mixing & packing numbers throughout the day
