About the Role:
As a 2nd Line Field Engineer at our client's company, you will be an experienced member of the Field Engineer team, performing an average of around 4 site visits and/or PGMs (Proactive General Maintenance) per week. When not undertaking site visits or PGMs, you will provide technical support to the Company’s customers via the Helpdesk ticket system, as required by the business. You will represent the company in a positive way by engaging well with customers, being well-presented at all times, and demonstrating a positive work ethic.
In this role, you will work as part of a team to improve and deliver high-quality PGM days for clients. You will have the opportunity to impart your technical knowledge to others, helping them where needed and creating documentation to support others in the form of Knowledge Base articles. Your professional, respectful, and proactive approach to customer service will be essential. Additionally, your in-depth knowledge of Windows technologies, including Windows Server and Desktop operating systems, will be highly valued.
Responsibilities:
Perform an average of around 4 site visits and/or PGMs per week as an experienced member of the Field Engineer team
Provide technical support via the Helpdesk ticket system when not on-site visits or PGMs
Engage well with customers and demonstrate a positive work ethic
Work as part of a team to deliver high-quality PGM days for clients
Impart technical knowledge to others and create documentation to support others
Demonstrate a professional, respectful, and proactive approach to customer service
Make recommendations to clients for genuine system improvements
Fulfil other reasonable duties in line with business needs
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Windows Server 2003-2019 and Windows Desktop XP-10
Familiarity with Hosted Desktop and Cloud computing
Experience with Terminal server farm setups
Office 365 tenant setup and administration expertise
VMWare/Hyper-V administration knowledge
Strong networking capabilities (DNS, routing, switching, etc.)
Knowledge of VoIP, preferably with 3CX
Demonstrable experience as a 2nd Line IT Engineer
Desirable Skills and Experience:
Exposure to Cisco/Draytek firewalls
Support experience with Apple products
Group Policy administration skills
Cabling survey and installations experience
Exposure to Ubiquiti/Cisco Wireless technologies
Previous experience working in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment
Recognised accreditations (MCP's, CompTIA, Apple)
