- Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with a reputable business in the Lancing area who are currently in search of a Purchasing Officer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Purchasing Officer will operate within a commercially driven environment with responsibility for procuring high quality components and sub-assemblies, for inclusion in manufactured finished goods, along with accessories, spares, and consumables for delivery to the customer base, coupled with goods and services for use within the business.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Develop and implement an ongoing procurement strategy which dovetails with both business development plans and current operations
Undertake the company’s procurement function to ensure that the necessary parts, components, assemblies, consumables, and spares are supplied on-time, at the best possible price, in optimal quantities, from the most appropriate suppliers
Manage the company’s suppliers from a purchasing perspective, identifying potential new vendors/suppliers as appropriate, ensuring supplier agreements are in place, and cultivating good working relationships with current vendors/suppliers
Raise, submit and manage all Purchase Orders for the company; this will include orders for manufacturing, along with consumables and accessories for resale, spares for the Service Team, and procurement of goods and services for internal use
Work with the Operations Manager to control and optimise stock levels
Work with the Sales, Marketing, Product Support and Product Development teams proactively to identify new products and components in accordance with defined business development strategies
Work closely with the Service and Customer Service Teams to support them with their requirements for Consumables, Spares and Accessories
Liaise with the Quality & Regulatory Affairs team to support them in ensuring that all suppliers understand the company’s requirements for product quality, price, and performance
Conduct risk analysis of supply contracts/agreements and procurement from critical key suppliers and markets, and propose mitigating strategies where appropriate
Identify and realise both cost saving and cost-reduction opportunities
Conduct supplier visits and assist with audits as required in the UK or abroad
Knowledge & skills required:
Previous experience in a purchasing role essential, ideally one that has a focus on manufacturing and/or healthcare
Proven track record of controlling and reducing external spend whilst developing and maintaining a robust supplier base
Part or fully qualified member of CIPS
Strong IT and software skills; knowledge of Epicor IT Systems would be an advantage
Fully conversant with modern procurement and purchasing techniques
Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills
Strong organisational and planning skills: will be a resourceful, self-motivated individual, adept at multi-tasking, but also an effective team-player
Willing to undertake periodic travel – potentially both UK and International
