- Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with an award-winning company in Brighton who are in search of a Finance Manager to support the Head of Finance and CFO during the month end, whilst also working with our Finance Assistant in overseeing the aged payables, aged receivables, customer invoicing, payroll and financial reporting processes. This is a fixed term position lasting 3 months and is required to cover a period of parental leave.
In this role you will own the month end process, general ledger, ensure all month end work and reconciliations are done, and help prepare the management reports ahead of month end board meeting deadlines. There will also be some project work involved when not carrying out month end or supporting the Finance Assistant in financial processing. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running and be very familiar with financial accounting and reporting processes with minimal guidance.
Responsibilities / Duties
- Review the profit and loss and make all necessary month end accruals, prepayments, fixed asset and payroll adjustments
- Review all monthly invoices to ensure completeness in the revenue recognition process, calculate subscription based deferred income position at the end of the month, and make all necessary revenue recognition adjustments
- Calculate project based WIP and deferred income position with professional services income at the end of the month and make all necessary revenue adjustments
- Review the CRM and subscription management tool, for all subscription momentum for the month, checking the accuracy of Salesforce Opportunities and SAAS Optics Transactions to ensure correct ARR reporting for the management reports, and to ensure all renewals and upgrades are managed properly
- Review the CRM and subscription management tool for all missing renewals, working with the Sales and Customer Success Teams to achieve accurate month end churn reporting, identifying churn risk for the management reports
- Review payroll reports, working with our Finance Assistant to own the monthly payroll process, and post monthly payroll journals, accurately splitting out costs across all departments, and ensuring all PAYE and Pension submissions are completed
- Review month end bank reconciliations, ensuring all remaining unreconciled lines are dealt with, inclusive of all necessary supporting documentation, and ensure all necessary accruals and prepayments adjustments are posted
- Submit final actual figures into management reports and forecast files, preparing month end consolidated profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flows, ensuring all expenses are coded as per forecast
- Review reconciliation of all balance sheet items, including revaluation intercompany reconciliations, and consolidation
- Review actuals position in comparison to forecast and provide commentary on profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow variances to forecast
- Provide support to the Head of Finance and CFO for ad hoc financial planning & analysis and forecasting queries
Person Specification
- This role would suit an individual with good accounting knowledge, who is confident with accruals, prepayments, and income recognition
- Fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - either from industry or practice
- Minimum of 5 years post qualified experience in industry
- Experience working in SaaS companies that use subscription momentum reports, or industries with subscription-based revenue recognition, is desirable
- Experience in preparing month end management reports on excel, as well as preparation of year-end accounts, with the ability to identify variances to forecast and provide useful variance commentary
- Good communication skills - both written and verbal
- Proven ability to stick to time constraints and meet monthly deadlines
- Experience using Mac OS, G-Suite apps, Microsoft office, Xero and Salesforce is preferable. Experience using SAAS Optics or a similar subscription management tool would be a bonus
- Excellent excel skills; in particular the ideal candidate will be very comfortable with sorting, tagging, and summarising large data sets to provide useful insight, utilising filters, pivot tables, VLOOKUP and index matching from their excel repertoire
