- Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with a leading engineering company based in the Uckfield area who are looking to recruit for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
Reporting into the NPD Manager you will be providing leadership, direction and mentoring to the rest of the team.
Salary £35K-£45K plus excellent company benefits
The role:
Interface with the manufacturing, test, and software teams
Contribute to the establishment of internal design and draughting standards
Conceptualise and implement new design solutions in line with the company philosophy and road map
Deliver cost and DFMA optimised solutions in line with the manufacturing strategy
Potentially lead complete NPD projects through phase gate development process
Key Responsibilities
Design new products using SolidWorks applying
Create an innovative and reactive Design Engineering environment utilising latest design methods and materials to rapidly develop and release new products
Deliver new product design on time, in line with metrics and aligned to MFG requirements
Evaluate and minimise risk utilising FMEA’s or other methodologies as appropriate
Work with MFG Eng to develop BOMs and routings within MRP, along with full build and test procedures
Work with the rest of the Design team in a support / mentoring role to help develop the team’s skills and performance towards an Agile focused product delivery approach
Follow company development procedures ensuring full documentation is completed for all projects
To work within the Company’s ISO Standards and procedures
To work within budgetary constraints, in a cost effective, diligent, organised, and professional manner
Other duties as required
Essential skills:
Solidworks Drawing, part modelling, sheet metal, large assembly
Drawing to BS 8888
Experience in a leading design projects in a multi-functional team
Design for Manufacture in a flow line / lean manufacturing environment
DFM, DFMEA, Verification and validation testing
Mechatronics development
Fabrication, Machining, Welding processes
Desirable
Project Management Training
SolidWorks Motion Analysis
