- Lloyd Recruitment services are currently in search of a Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading company in the West Sussex area.
Purpose of job:
To provide health and safety advice to the business and develop, produce and implement policies and procedures
To provide health and safety training where necessary and to carry out audits of company operations to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all staff, visitors and contractors
To manage risk control systems and find solutions to operational H&S risks
To monitor performance against safety management systems and implement changes suitable for company operations
To influence internal and external stakeholders and negotiate safety improvements
Key Tasks/Accountabilities:
To produce and implement health and safety policies and procedures, including the adaptation of corporate policies
Ability to build bespoke risk control systems
Work collaboratively with the Health and Safety Manager to develop the company health and safety management system and safety culture and drive improvements in health and safety
To carry out and analyse Risk Assessments across the company’s operation
To participate in H&S Forum meetings, Sites Network Operating Forum, Staff Council and other meetings as required
Manage the day to day running of the online accident and incident reporting system
Provide regular reporting and statistical analysis to managers across the business and executive committee
Prepare reports in case of any solicitor claim, enforcing body investigation or prosecution
Investigate accidents and incidents (including RIDDOR reporting) and determine any gaps in the risk control system and / or breach of Health and Safety regulations
Prioritise and implement improvements to maintain a high level of safety performance, provide advice and support based on audit findings and promoting the health and safety function
To carry out any other Health and Safety duties and investigations as directed by the Health and Safety Manager
Proactively monitor developments in the safety industry and ensure the company is best-placed to react to what’s happening externally
To engage with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to drive safety standards in order to influence managers and negotiate improvements
To review contractor performance and work collaboratively with contractors to improve health and safety standards
Manage day to day tasks carried out by the Health and safety Administrator
Essential Skills & Experience Required:
Previous health and safety experience in a multi-site role
NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
GradIOSH minimum and completion of required CPD
To be competent in providing a professional Health and Safety advisory service to the business
To be able to plan and work independently and be able to make practical operational decisions
Ability to build relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders and negotiate improvements
Ability to carry out performance monitoring/ auditing and accident investigations
Ability to keep up to date with changes in legislation and industry best practice
Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint and GSuite
Ability to travel around the UK with regular overnight stays
Desirable Skills & Experience
Understanding of food hygiene requirements
Environmental foundation qualification
Previous experience of safety within an multisite tour operator/ travel provider or leisure provider
