Description

Lloyd Recruitment Services is pleased to be working with a leading Managed Services Provider in the search for an experienced 2nd Line Engineer to join their dynamic team in Camberley.


The role:


In this role, you will be an integral part of the technical team, handling 2nd line technical support queries using telephone and remote-based tools. You will work within SLAs, use the Helpdesk Management System and attend customer sites as required.


The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role and good working knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Windows Desktops, backup and security software, and general networking.

Responsibilities for the 2nd Line Engineer:



  • 2nd line technical support for Windows desktops, laptops, hardware and software

  • Support of Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, permissions and Group Policy

  • Supporting Microsoft 365, including Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and Entra ID

  • Network and server troubleshooting

  • Working on SLA-based technical support calls

  • Writing and updating user and system documentation

  • Remote project work undertaken by the Helpdesk

  • Attending client sites as required to complete support tickets and/or project work

  • Prioritising and escalating tickets where required

  • Working alongside manufacturers and vendors to troubleshoot technical issues

  • Maintaining accurate ticket notes and ensuring effective customer communication


Key Skills of the Support Engineer:



  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Microsoft 365

  • Good understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Wi-Fi, switches, routers and firewalls

  • Knowledge of backup and security solutions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage multiple requests

  • Logical and methodical approach to problem-solving

  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence


Desirable:



  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure

  • Knowledge of server hardware

  • Apple Mac experience

  • Knowledge of VoIP systems

  • Microsoft, CompTIA and/or ITIL certifications
