- Lloyd Recruitment Services are pleased to be working with a leading client within the education sector who are in search for a Head of Operations to join their team.
The Head of Operations will be responsible for providing operational and strategic management support to the Leadership Team and overall responsibility for the estates. The Head of Operations will be expected to play a leading part in planning and implementation of all existing and future infrastructure plans and projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Operations Manager to get involved in a hand-on role where no 2 days are the same.

Head of Operations main responsibilities:
The management of estates and facilities management including:
Compliance and GDPR
Health and Safety
Future infrastructure projects and plans
Company Secretary and Clerk to the Governors
Ensuring highest standards of facilities and estates management
Delivering strategic plans with the senior team
General management of the support staff and administration team
Ensuring that non educational resources are efficiently and effectively used
Developing and driving the sustainability agenda
Responsible for arranging for the safety, security and effective maintenance of the assets of the Estate
Managing the capital expenditure budget and any project budgets in consultation with Finance Director
Procurement of services and equipment
Insurance and insurance claims
Project management including, drafting outline specification for new building and capital projects and liaising with internal and external stakeholders on major projects such as new builds
Estates & Resources:
As the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for the work of the Estates Manager in the management, maintenance and development of the buildings and Estates
Reporting directly to the Senior Management team on all matters pertaining to the Estate including the maintenance programme, and budgeted Capex
Liaising with architects, quantity surveyors and other professional advisors over new building projects, including attendance at site meetings
Ensuring appropriate provision and maintenance of resources
Responsible for the work of the Catering team in providing a high and cost-effective standard of catering. Ensuring high quality and value for money
Purchasing all goods and services for the school and overseeing any contracts
Management and Administration:
Attending management team meetings and contributing to the day-to-day management and success of the Estate
Leading and inspiring the support team to drive standards higher
Managing and developing the work of the IT Manager, Estates Manager and the Catering Manager
Developing and driving sustainability ambitions, seeking sustainable solutions wherever possible and cost effective
Taking overall responsibility for Health and Safety management
Advising on and, where appropriate, organising the selection, appointment and appraisal of support staff and acting as line manager to those support staff
Ensuring compliance with the regulations for the operation of minibuses, driver training and assessments, servicing, and Vehicle Inspectorate Tests
Providing support for the commercial activities of the Estate
Acting as the companiesData Protection Officer
The Head of Operations has overall responsibility for ensuring the school’s compliance with: Health and safety legislation, Data protection legislation and best insurance practice
As the Head of Operations, you will be required to arrange and attending all meetings of the Board of Governors, including all appropriate sub-committees
Preparing and circulating agendas and minutes for all meetings
Answering queries from Governors, arranging training and processing the appointment of new governors
Completing statutory returns to regulatory bodies
Liaising with solicitors over all legal matters and procuring legal advice to the Governors and senior management team
Procuring appropriate insurances for the Estate
Maintaining the Estates Risk Registers
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
Strong project management, planning and development experience and experience of managing a building project from plans to completion
Strong IT Skill Set and knowledge of core IT infrastructure and networks
Ability to devolve responsibilities, delegate tasks and monitor practice to see that they are carried out, set standards and provide a role model for others
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience of budget management
Applicants must be willing to undergo enhanced DBS checks
Desirable
Experience of working in the educational sector (desirable)
Data Protection experience (desirable)
