The role:
Motivate and supervise yard staff and drivers to ensure that the branch can meet targets and exceed customers’ expectations in terms of the efficiency and standard of service provided. Ensure that branch operations are carried out in line with company procedures and policies. This position is not responsible for the direct line management of staff but is responsible for the supervision of staff and their activities within the yard/site.

Essential person specification:
Minimum GCSE’s grade C or above in Maths & English or equivalent
Supervisor training or equivalent Supervisor experience for 2 years
Hold a valid driving licence and own vehicle
Main accountabilities and responsibilities:
Work effectively as part of a team promoting the company’s vision, values and aspirations at all times. Work with key staff to enable the company to supply and deliver products in a timely and efficient manner
Work with key staff to maintain adequate stock levels and resolve supply/delivery issues as they arise
Yard:
Liaise with the drivers and yard operatives to ensure that the products supplied are accurate and delivered in appropriate time scales
Assist with picking and loading of company vehicles, in line with health and safety procedures and company policy, as and when required
Ensure that customers are served promptly and efficiently at all times
Ensure that the yard is kept tidy at all times, stock is clearly identifiable and low stock levels are high-lighted where necessary
Ensure forklifts and other plant are used and maintained in an appropriate manner in line with health and safety guidelines and daily checks are completed
Ensure that department assets are well maintained and protected from possible damage and theft
Provide guidance, support and training to yard staff and drivers as and when required
Stock:
Work closely with key staff and the Manager on stock control programmes to reduce slow moving stock
Assist in daily PI (perpetual inventory) yard stock take to ensure the company maintains an accurate record of products within the Company ERP
Assist with full branch stock takes when required
Control the timely return of faulty/damaged goods and ensure up-to-date accurate stock records
Ensure that stock is maintained in accordance with space best practice for chain of custody certification
Ensure that company accounting procedures are used at all times to actively safeguard against the theft of goods or company property
Receive and check deliveries to the branch, highlighting and reporting any anomalies without delay
Ensure, correct and timely storage of delivered products in line with health and safety guidelines
Staff:
Motivate and organise the team to achieve the branch objectives and operational needs
Provide on the job training, guidance, and advice to all members of the team
Other:
Actively safeguard against theft of company goods/property by being security conscious at all times
Take a pro-active approach in ensuring the health and safety of staff and customers, reporting, and responding to any potential H & S concerns/issues
Optimise all duties and activities to enhance branch profit
Act as the initial contact with regard to repair and maintenance issues arising in the yard and make recommendations to the Branch Manager for resolving them
Perform any other reasonable duty as may be required by the company
Full time, Permanent social working hours between the hours of 7:00am - 5pm and alternate Saturdays 8am-12pm (time off in lieu)
