We are on the hunt for an Underwriter to join a thriving team working for our established client based in the local area.
The Role:
Review and approve/decline credit proposals within individual approved credit authority
Assess and evaluate customer credit risk through in-depth business and financial analysis
Document and communicate credit decisions in a clear and effective manner within set timelines
Site visits where appropriate
Interface with internal & external stakeholders to resolve credit related issues
To provide assistance and advice and where necessary, negotiate on deal structuring with a view to maximising the commercial opportunity without compromising credit quality standards
Be acutely familiar with the credit portfolio
Deal with or escalate any identified risks in relation to consumer risk policies and/or legislative and regulatory guidelines in accordance with the group risk framework
Acts to develop customer relationships and seeks to exceed client's expectations
Handle telephone queries from supporting dealers and internal sales staff
The Ideal Candidate
Knowledge of risk policy, systems and controls is desirable
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
A commercial outlook when considering proposals using strong influencing and negotiation skills
Ability to build strong, meaningful business relationships
Ability to structure a proposal into a deal acceptable to all parties in a decisive and inquisitive manner
Highly numerate
Sound time management
Understanding the treating customers fairly principles
