Epsom & Ewell Borough Council
Start date: Mid May 2021
End date: Early Aug 2021
The Role:
Supporting all aspects of the scrutiny function including the provision of scrutiny advice to the Head of Policy, Performance and Governance/Chairman of the Audit, Crime & Disorder and Scrutiny Committee, project management of scrutiny reviews and undertaking appropriate research.
Deputising for the Head of Policy, Performance & Governance where necessary and attending Committee meetings and working with partners
Input to the Council’s annual target setting process in connection with the corporate and service delivery plans
Responsibility for the internal audit contract and monitoring the implementation of recommendations.
Prioritising own and team’s workload including performance management and health and safety
Provision of timely and quality information to the Leadership team, Chairmen and relevant corporate projects for decision-making.
Supporting risk management framework and updating risk register
Ensuring the Council complies with health & safety legislation, e.g. RIDDOR
Essentials
Relevant degree or professional qualification e.g. in health and safety or risk management.
Experience in managing and developing a high performing team
Proven ability to manage a number of service areas, preferably within corporate governance/assurance
Project management experience
Ability to communicate effectively within a wide range of audiences – both written and oral
Core hours 9-5.30pm Monday to Friday and occasional evenings in line with committee meetings.
Desirables
Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or AIIRSM
Management qualifications
